Many of us are still doing the old stretches and calisthenics we learned as kids in school. Or worse, we’re doing nothing at all. It’s easy to be overwhelmed by uncertainty and just give up for fear of doing something wrong.
It’s best to have a knowledgeable, hands-on professional guiding you, and the support of a committed group to keep you going. But of course that’s not always possible to do – in your area, within your budget, or on your schedule. So here are some great resources from ACE, the American Council on Exercise, to help you exercise safely and effectively:
ACE Exercise Library
Individual exercises described in complete step-by-step detail, with images or videos to show you how each is properly done. You can look them up by the targeted body part, by the type of equipment you have available, or just browse the videos.
ACE Workout Library
Whole workouts – collections of exercises right for your needs and fitness level. Just a few examples: Stability Ball Workout, 30-Minute Workout, At Home Workout (bodyweight only), and many more.
From the ACE mission statement: “The American Council on Exercise® is a nonprofit organization committed to enriching quality of life through safe and effective exercise and physical activity.” You can find the complete ACE website at www.acefitness.org
